Case Study

Project Brief - To shoot seven black and white films, including silent and talking films, to be used during the Courtyard Theatre's production of 'Singing In The Rain'.

The results –

This was a particularly challenging project as the films had to interact with the actors on the stage, so we had to work out timings for filming so that we left enough room for the actors to say their lines.

Further increasing the technical issues, the films started in the era of the silent movie then progressed into full sound films. Each film showed how the actors and filmmakers struggled to come to terms with this new technology. This enabled us to have some great fun in post-production!!! We sped things up, slowed them down, had to do some lip sync recording and layer in effects.

3rd film which was their first attempt at recording sound, hence the effects!
